What is a payment method?
A payment method defines how the customer pays for their purchase at the checkout. Examples of payment methods include cash, card, MobilePay, or meal vouchers.
When should a new payment method be added?
The checkout system has Card Payment and Cash payment methods available by default, which do not need to be added separately. In addition to these, you can add new payment methods in situations such as the following:
a new payment service is introduced
you want to track payment methods separately in reports
the checkout functionality is being expanded
Adding a payment method
Go to Settings → Payment Methods
Select New Payment Method
Enter a name for the payment method (e.g. MobilePay)
Choose the type of payment method
- Fixed price
- Gift card
- Mobile Pay
- Payment: A general payment method that can be used in various situations
- Invoice: An invoice generated in the ready-to-invoice status, which must be sent separately to the customer
- Quick invoice: The invoice is sent immediately after completing the sale. Primarily used for email invoices.
- Separate terminal card payment: Allows the use of a separate terminal without disconnecting the payment terminal
Amount (used if it is a fixed-amount payment method, e.g. a €20 gift card or meal voucher)
Select the accounting account for the payment method, which will be used as the counter account for the sale.

Notes
Adding a payment method does not automatically activate the payment service
External services require a separate agreement
Payment methods are displayed separately in reports
We recommend confirming with your accountant which accounting account to use for alternative payment methods
